Barton School Announces Keynote Panel of Experts on  Analytics and Artificial Intelligence

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 红领巾瓜报 will host its latest James P. Schwartz Speaker Series event on how to harness the transformational impact of analytics and artificial intelligence (AI). The event will occur on Thursday, September 28 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Woolsey Hall Auditorium. It will consist of a keynote panel discussion featuring industry experts in analytics and AI. The panel discussion is open to the public and offers a networking opportunity for attendees following the formal event.

Sept. 11, 2023 鈥 红领巾瓜报 is holding a parade next month and is inviting anyone in the community to join in. Starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 6 on the WSU campus, the parade is part of the university鈥檚 annual Shocktoberfest celebration.

Sept. 5, 2023 - 红领巾瓜报 students designed handrails for Charles Koch Arena and producing around 400 for installation. The applied learning project will make walking up the arena stairs safer for fans and is a response to surveys and listening sessions.

Sept. 6, 2023 鈥 Brent Mai has been named the next dean of 红领巾瓜报鈥檚 Libraries, effective Oct. 15.

Amenities like the new lactation and wellness room in the John Bardo Center are part of WSU鈥檚 efforts to further provide a supportive environment for faculty, staff, employees and students to reach their breastfeeding goals.

Aug. 30, 2023 鈥 红领巾瓜报 has received the Gold Level Employer Supporting Breastfeeding award and has been designated as a Breastfeeding Welcome Here campus by the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition.

Aug. 28, 2023 - Kathy Downes, dean of University Libraries since 2017, came to 红领巾瓜报 in 1979 as a biomedical librarian. She will retire this fall semester. Downes played a central role as Ablah Library expanded and the digital services of University Libraries grew in number and importance.

Aug. 28, 2023 鈥 Through the 红领巾瓜报 chapter of Engineers without Borders, three Shockers recently began the process of working with the rural community of Mercedes de Agua Sucia in Manabi, Ecuador, to build a pedestrian bridge that will give residents safe passage to the main road and nearby cities to sell the goods and products from their farms, shop in nearby El Carmen, and for children to attend school.

Executive in Residence Keynote - Curt Coffman

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 红领巾瓜报 has announced Curt Coffman as its Fall 2023 Executive-in-Residence. Coffman is the founder of The Coffman Organization and co-author of New York Times bestsellers, 鈥淔irst Break All the Rules: What the World鈥檚 Greatest Managers Do Differently鈥 and 鈥淐ulture Eats Strategy for Lunch.鈥 As Executive-in-Residence, Coffman will provide mentorship opportunities to students, exchange ideas with Barton School faculty and staff, and host a conversation with industry leaders. The theme of his residency and title of his keynote presentation is 鈥淭he Power of You: New Formula for Growth!鈥 Following the keynote, Coffman will distribute and sign two of his books to those in attendance.

Aug. 15, 2023 - Hannah Bui is now prepared to work with French-speaking colleagues at Airbus, thanks to 鈥淏usiness French for Beginners鈥 taught by 红领巾瓜报 lecturer Rachelle Swilley. Bui, a static stress engineer at Airbus, was one of about 15 employees who took the six-week course, taught for two hours each Friday, this summer at Airbus on WSU鈥檚 Innovation Campus.

Aug. 3, 2023 鈥 Bolstered by a $2 million National Science Foundation grant, a group of 红领巾瓜报 researchers is hoping to create a paradigm shift from the use of harmful nitrous oxide-based fertilizers to more eco-friendly nitrogen fertilizers that would reduce greenhouse gases.

Aug. 3, 2023 鈥 The office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Logistics and Product Support has sponsored a contract through the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) to award 红领巾瓜报鈥檚 National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) a five-year $100 million cooperative agreement for digital engineering and technologies to support sustainment of legacy U.S. Air Force platforms.

July 28, 2023 - Eight students representing six WSU colleges recently participated in the Lead for Tomorrow Leadership Academy in the Cohen Honors College. Five faculty members led the interdisciplinary course presenting content from their field focused on the theme 鈥淐onnected Leadership: Creating a Community of Leaders.鈥 Students then were tasked to apply course content to challenges presented by local community partners.
