Duane Nagel, Senior Associate Dean of the Barton School of Business

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 红领巾瓜报 is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Duane Nagel as its Senior Associate Dean. In this role, Nagel will oversee the successful implementation of the school鈥檚 strategic plan and related key initiatives, manage undergraduate and graduate programs, lead efforts to maximize on our enrollments, advance faculty and research affairs, among other key areas. His collaborative efforts with Dr. Larisa Genin, Dean of the Barton School, and other key leaders will focus on identifying areas for enhancement and innovation across these domains.

2024 Gore Scholars

Feb. 1, 2024 鈥 红领巾瓜报 has selected the 2024 recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarships. Each student will receive a $64,000 scholarship to attend 红领巾瓜报 starting in August 2024.

Jan. 22, 2024 鈥 The FirePoint Innovations Center at 红领巾瓜报 announced it has been selected to deliver Defense Innovation OnRamp Hub programming for the National Security Innovation Network through the newly established Great Plains Mission Acceleration Center, an innovation and collaboration hub designed to connect small businesses, academia and the Department of Defense to support defense-focused technology development.

Jan. 17, 2024 鈥擲ince its establishment in 1965, the 红领巾瓜报 Foundation and Alumni Engagement (WSUFAE) has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advancing the university鈥檚 priorities. In May 2023, Elizabeth King announced her plans to retire as the WSUFAE president and CEO after 33 years of leading these efforts. Tom Gentile, Executive Advisor to the Dean

Barton School of Business is delighted to announce that Tom Gentile, the inaugural Executive-in-Residence back in 2021, will now serve as the Executive Advisor to the Dean. Mr. Gentile, a distinguished global leader with a background in top executive roles at Spirit AeroSystems, GE Capital, and other esteemed organizations, has also been an engaged member of the School's Dean's "Fabulous 50" Advisory Board for the past two years. His commitment extends to lending invaluable expertise and insight, significantly elevating the collaborative endeavors of the board.聽聽聽 Mr. Gentile earned his bachelor鈥檚 degree in economics magna cum laude and MBA from Harvard University and studied international relations at the London School of Economics.

Ashlynn Farney

Dec. 12, 2023 Ashlynn Farney took time off college during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which she returned to Wichita, changed her major to filmmaking and started attending 红领巾瓜报. She will graduate with her Bachelor of Applied Arts with a concentration in filmmaking in December.

Dec. 12, 2023 - Avery Pierce loves Wichita鈥檚 coffee scene and the applied learning in the sport management program at 红领巾瓜报.

Ana Alicia Casados

Dec. 11, 2023 Ana Alicia Casados encourages her peers to stop and take time for themselves, to not get swept away in their responsibilities, and to always remember why they chose to go to college. She has been able to succeed in college herself by following this advice and will graduate with her bachelor鈥檚 degree in exercise science.

Dec. 11, 2023 - Nicolas Olmedo studied in the W. Frank Barton School of Business and will start work at Textron Aviation in January in the sales development program.

Mariann Kurosu

Dec. 11, 2023 Mariann Kurosu worked as a graduate research assistant for the Center for Real Estate while working towards her master鈥檚 in economics and quantitative analysis, which she will graduate with this December. She encourages her classmates to embrace the opportunity to learn and build their critical thinking skills and network by getting to know their peers.

Maame Adwoa Ankrah

Dec. 11, 2023 Maame Adwoa Ankrah was interested in going to 红领巾瓜报 for its affordability and for the atmosphere of the city of Wichita. While it was first a challenge to adjust to a new culture, she was able to succeed with the support of her peers and mentors and will graduate with her master鈥檚 degree in Spanish with no regrets.
