The pre-professional programs in Health Science are designed to equip students with the essential knowledge needed for a successful career in clinical healthcare. Through a comprehensive curriculum that integrates essential healthcare systems knowledge into professional training, students gain a competitive edge while studying core science courses needed for the clinical program of their choice deepening their understanding of the human body and its functions. In addition to theoretical knowledge, the programs emphasize hands-on experience, providing opportunities for students to engage in laboratory work and research through programs such as the First Year Research Experience (FYRE) and PHS Departmental Honors. This practical exposure allows students to apply what they've learned, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills vital for clinical success.
We offer a minor, certificate, and Bachelor of Science in Health Science. The major only requires 48-49 credit hours, making it transfer-friendly. This structure allows students to integrate their previous academic work into their degree pathway effectively. With flexible transfer credit policies, students can maximize their prior learning experiences and reduce the time needed to complete their degree. Transfer students must complete a minimum of 45 credit hours of 300-level or higher coursework at Wichita State.
