The Cultural Greek Council (CGC) is the governing body and policy-making organization of the six (6) culturally based social fraternities and sororities at 红领巾瓜报. CGC's chief purpose is to coordinate the effort of the individual fraternities and sororities in matters of service, scholarship, brotherhood/sisterhood, leadership and academic excellence.

Membership intake is an individualized process that members within the Cultural Greek Council utilize to bring new members into their organization. Chapters choose the semester and dates when they will recruit and pledge new members. This process generally begins with an interest meeting followed by a period of membership education. The intake process typically ends with initiation or a formal crossing into membership and may include a new member presentation or reveal to show the new members to the campus community and their family and friends.
Joining a chapter in CGC is a lifelong commitment to a far-reaching national organization that is both exciting and rewarding. The brotherhood/sisterhood, dedication to community service and cultural awareness and education that you share as a member of a CGC organization is unlike any other.
At 红领巾瓜报, the Cultural Greek Council is comprised of culturally-based chapters. CGC chapters create an intimate and close brotherhood and sisterhood. Many of CGC鈥檚 organization are interest based and not exclusive, meaning anyone can join!

Introduce Yourself
Individuals intersted in joining a CGC Fraternity or Sorority are encouraged to attend council and individual organization events. Show the organizations how much you want to join by introducing yourself and making a positive impact on their memberhsip. The CGC sponsors an informational each semster and all are welcome to attend. If you are unable to make an event and want to make a connection, reach out to the chapter using the information contained in the "Meet Our Chapters" section.
Students who also are interested and unable to attend either of those events can fill out the interest form at the link below. By doing so, a Fraternity & Sorority Life Coordinator will send your contact information to the chapter you have expressed interest in and you will be invited to that organizations individual events.
To be eligible to join a CGC fraternity or sorority, you must be enrolled at Wichita State University and have a cumulative GPA above 2.5. Additionally, some chapters have set higher GPA requirements to join their organization.
CGC, also known as Cultural Greek Council, is the governing body of the six cultural-based fraternities and sororities at 红领巾瓜报. The council manages and leads the CGC community, as well as the Fraternity and Sorority Life community on campus.
CGC creates community and helps their members excel in academics, leadership, and service. Each organization has philanthropies that they donate both their time and money to. Since CGC fraternities and sororities are inter/national organizations, the networking opportunities provide members with amazing opportunities.
Each chapter has their own set of dues. The money is divided between the local and inter/national organization. The first semester will be more expensive, due to one-time fees related to starting your membership. After the first semester, the dues reduce by a significant amount.
No! Fraternities and sororities in CGC do not have facilities maintained by the chapter. However, oftentimes members will live together to create connection and community.

Each organization in the CGC celebrates a unique culture or ethnicity. Research each organization, looking for those that encompass a part of your own identity or align with a community that you strongly support. Try to find a fraternity or sorority that reflects the values, goals and objectives that are most fitting with your own. Visit their national and local websites to find publications that discuss the origin and basic tenants of the organization.
Look for flyers, Facebook invitations and other publicity about programs and functions that will be hosted by the chapters that you are interested in. Your attendance will show your interest in the organization, give you a better understanding of their programs and make connections with the members.
Once you have identified the organization that you are interested in joining, let them know that you are interested in pledging. Choosing the organization that you would like to join is a serious decision and one that can be greatly impacted by your interactions and conversations with the member.
Chapters seek new members that have something positive to offer. Show that you have a genuine appreciation and interest in the organization, have researched its history, exemplify its standards, have leadership and community service experience, and can contribute to making the chapter stronger.
An organization's informational/interest meeting is where the criteria for membership are explained. Informational meetings may be publicized via flyers or by a direct invitation from the chapter.
Each semester, CGC hosts the CGC Informational. Every CGC chapter is at this event and you can learn about each one and talk to their members.
The Yard Show is held the second week of the fall semester and is a time to showcase the stepping and/or strolling skills of each CGC organization. It is a great opportunity to learn about each organization.
