As we look for opportunities to continue operations across campus, faculty and staff will want ways to connect with each other and with students in real time.

红领巾瓜报 has adopted Microsoft Teams as it's primary supported web conferencing application and is available to all faculty, staff, and students. But for those who prefer to use Zoom, it is also available in two levels: Basic and Licensed. Licensed is available at the department's expense. Both Teams and Zoom are integrated with your myWSU login.

Basic

Basic is no cost to you or the university. To sign up for an account go to: and register for a basic account using your @wichita.edu email address. This way, it will be linked into our university group and you鈥檒l have single-sign-on access.

Licensed

We have paid for a very limited number of Licensed accounts for the entire campus community, so we ask you to consider ways in which you can use a basic account and still accomplish what you need to do at a distance. If you currently have a Licensed account but aren鈥檛 actively using it or your needs could be met with Basic, please contact us so we can downgrade your account and reserve those for high priority situations. At this time, students are not eligible for Licensed accounts, with the exception of graduate students with paid teaching responsibilities, with departmental approval.

Zoom Solutions

Keep in mind that even though the free Zoom service doesn't allow conferences to exceed 40 minutes, you can have as many conferences as you like, so you could hold a longer class period in a series of consecutive Zoom sessions. One suggestion is to use the 鈥淧ersonal Meeting ID鈥 when scheduling meetings that need to have multiple meetings. Doing this will allow you to only share one link that is used for all the successive meetings.

If you need to connect more than 100 people, we suggest you visit with OIR to talk through ways of making your material asynchronous or which other tools may allow you to communicate with large groups.

To request Zoom, submit a request via the Audio-Visual Media Support page. Please note that current licenses are limited, and there may be a waiting period. Until then, please see our information on using a Basic license.
