Important Tips for Applicants:
- Give yourself plenty of time to complete the application and submit any required documents. Plan for at least 60 minutes of uninterrupted time to complete your online application.
- A search for a clerical position will take a minimum of 30 days from the date the first applicant applies to the date the final candidate is hired. It can take longer.
- A faculty search can take as long as a year to find the right candidate. Some faculty searches are shorter.
- If you are asked to submit a resume, tailor it to the job description you are applying for. Highlight in your resume what the employer is looking for. Point out the skills and experience you have that the employer wants. It is best not to reuse the same resume over and over. Spelling, grammar and punctuation count. Colors and special fonts make your resume harder to read. Some positions do not require or even allow you to submit a resume.
- If you are asked for a cover letter, use it to bring attention to any specials skills that are beneficial to that job. You might be lacking a skill required by the employer but taking some class or training to get that skill. Let the employer know this. If you are about to graduate, share your expected graduation date in your letter. Use your letter to recap what the employer is looking for and specifically what level of skills you have. It is best not to reuse the same cover letter over and over. Spelling, grammar and punctuation count. Some positions do not require or even allow you to submit a cover letter.
- If a resume and/or cover letter are not required for the position, then you won't be able to attach it to your application and the department is not requiring it. There is no need to submit it in an email to Human Resources. If you are selected for an interview, you may want to bring in a copy of your resume to the job interview.
- Interviews at 红领巾瓜报 are generally panel interviews. The panel will consist of a group from the campus and community generally consisting of 3 or more people from diverse backgrounds.
