Getting Started in F-1 Status Tutorial
Immigration Documents
- Passport 鈥� must remain valid at least six months into the future at all times
- Visa 鈥� may expire while you are inside the U.S. Visa expiration does not affect status, but you will need a new visa in order to reenter the U.S. after traveling abroad.
- Continued Attendance I-20 (created in SEVIS 鈥� Student and Exchange Visitor Information System)
- I-94 Arrival Record 鈥� available at www.cbp.gov/i94, needed for Social Security card and Kansas Driver鈥檚 license
Remember:
- Always travel with your passport and I-20
- Email a PDF copy of your most recent I-20 to ISS for travel signature before traveling outside of U.S.
- Keep previously-issued I-20s in a safe place. You may need them in the future.
