Giving to Electrical and Computer Engineering

Evergy Solar PanelsMicrogrid @ John Bardo Center: A grit from Evergy provides research and educational opportunities to ECE students

Well-wishers and donors can help the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department create new opportunities and sustain existing programs. Areas with critical needs in the department are undergraduate scholarships to promote diversity, enhancing facilities to promote applied learning, graduate fellowships to enhance teaching opportunities, student travel funds, faculty development, and alumni engagement. General donations will be used by the department leadership to support the department鈥檚 objectives in line with the university's mission.

The ECE Department welcomes Permanently Endowed Funds, which will help the department maintain excellence in specific areas. Your endowment will be maintained in separate account to preserve your identity, and the purpose of the gift. The ECE Department works very closely with College of Engineering and to help the donors identify appropriate philanthropic opportunities.

One of our faculty members, Dr. M. Edwin Sawan, created an Endowed Scholarship for international graduate students. Sawan family established this fellowship in memory of his wife, Maha 鈥淢aggie鈥 Sawan. This honors her lifelong dedication to education and service to family and community.

Dr. Sawan is a devoted teacher in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Even though he retired in 2009, he continues his commitment to provide excellent education to our students.
