The modern workforce is evolving and changing. How can a leader be prepared to face these challenges? Our answer is the eLeadership program. The "e" in eLeadership illustrates that 'everyone' can be a leader in this increasingly remote and modern workplace.

eLeadership: What is it?

Leadership is a process involving learning and helping others. It is not always a highly visible organizational role. Leaders learn how to grow personally so that they can better help others achieve their personal and professional goals. The "e" in eLeadership stands for both 'electronic' and 'everyone'. We believe that leaders lead, whether that is face-to-face or through a remote workforce. And, all leaders need resources so they can better themselves. Our eLeadership program provides short, quick, and easy-to-apply tools for the leader of the modern workforce.

Our philosophy is simple: we create, identify, locate, and summarize leadership ideas, tips, and resources. We disseminate these resources via our integrated social media platforms and interactive communication outlets.

Professional Development Certificates of Completion (PDC)

Learning and growing (both professionally and personally) and keys to being an impactful leader. For those wanting to further develop their careers and/or leadership skills, the eLeadership program provides leaders the chance to earn a professional development certificate (PDC). Currently, there are two PDCs available: Basics of Leadership and Adaptable and Actionable Leadership.

Please see the following with details regarding how to earn yours today!

PDC in Basics of Leadership

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving (all episodes)
  • Performance Psychology (Complete at least 3 separate episodes of the Performance Psychology Series.)
  • Communication (All 5 episodes)

PDC in Adaptable and Actionable Leadership

  • Refining leadership: Change management and moving forward (all episodes)
  • Performance Psychology (Complete at least 2 separate episodes of the Performance Psychology Series.)
  • Flexible Leadership: Tips for embracing change, and how to lead out of, and in, the middle of a mess. (all episodes) 

  • Leading through crisis: A lesson in leadership about what NOT to do. (view entire 35-minute training video)

How do I attain a Professional Development Certificate (PDC)? 

In order to attain a PDC, the leadership practitioner or student will need to complete the following steps:

  1. for the eLeadership program, stating they would like to purse a PDC in "Basics of Leadership" or "Adaptable and Actionable Leadership."
  2. Schedule a Zoom or in-person meeting with eLeadership Director, Mike Ross. During this meeting, you should discuss 1) why you are growing your leadership; 2) what areas do you want to grow; 3) download your Leadership Lessons Workbook template from the eLeadership website; and 4) which PDC/courses will you complete (this is known as a plan of study, which simply maps out which episodes you will watch in order to fulfill the PDC requirements).
  3. Watch all of your episodes and complete you Leadership Lessons Workbook within a 12-month period.
  4. Submit your completed Leadership Lessons Workbook. Program administrators will review submitted workbooks and provide an evaluation, if needed, to each participant.
  5. After successful completion, participants are awarded a Professional Development Certificate from the eLeadership program and will be recognized on the official website and with social media promotions.
  6. OPTIONAL: We always welcome participants that would like to debrief about their PDC and/or current leadership experiences. Please feel free to connect with eLeadership staff to schedule an appointment to chat with us!
Dr. Mike Ross, eLeadership Program Coordinator

Dr. Ross is an enthusiastic and passionate professional focused on helping EVERYONE grow personally and professionally. He helps people find or develop their leadership philosophies in a simple, three-step process: 

  1. Learn about yourself (e.g. strengths, weakness, personality, etc.)
  2. Learn about others (e.g. colleagues, students, etc.)
  3. Learn about leadership ideas and concepts

Dr. Ross worked for a decade in Division I intercollegiate athletics and has been a professional educator for the past fifteen years. He has consulted with students, education professionals, and trained employees in a variety of industries regarding leadership, interpersonal communication, and workplace collaboration.

Professional Training Certificate: eLeadership

Interested in how you can be a leader in a changing workplace?

Our Professional Training Certificate in eLeadership helps grow or refine your digital leadership skills. Leaders learn:

  • How to connect with individual employees
  • How to help employees reach their potential by understanding their psychological needs
  • Ideas for increasing productivity of remote employees
  • How to apply your skills in an applied learning environment where you can work with your current organization, or work within a simulated organization 

The 9-credit hour program can be completed in one semester and includes the following Workforce Leadership courses:

EDUC 400: Practicum: Integrates coursework in the organizational leadership and learning degree with planned and supervised professional experiences for a total of at least 160 hours.

EDUC 618: Education and Workplace Training: Helps students understand the fundamental issues associated with learning, transfer of information, how to understand the learner, and how to design organizational interventions with a special focus on employee development. Students are exposed to current issues and best practices associated with workplace training and professional growth and development.

EDUC 625: Interpersonal Communication in the Workplace: Shows students the importance of effective interpersonal communication in today鈥檚 modern workplace. Students learn how to recognize various communication styles and effective ways to adapt communication to meet the needs of co-workers, bosses and customers. In addition, students improve their understanding of nonverbal communication and individual influences on communication skills. Finally, students learn techniques for dealing with negative situations, handling difficult individuals, presentations and meeting techniques.

EDUC 751A: Talent development and the workplace: Introduces key concepts and systems associated with understanding, motivating and developing individual employee skill sets. In addition, students learn useful skills for developing workplace environments emphasizing formal and informal learning, while focusing on how to implement concepts, systems and models into everyday organizational practices.

EDUC 751D: Organizational Ethics and Decision-making: Students learn the foundational concepts, theories and methodologies for examining ethical dilemmas and evaluative processes within a variety of organizations. The course focuses on examining underlying values and elements of organizational decisions, processes and relationships. Students engage in not only ethical discussions, but also apply ethical models, concepts and frameworks to real-world case studies. Ultimately, students use these concepts, models and case studies to examine their own leadership and decision-making styles and processes within organizational environments.

EDUC 751E: Leading a remote workforce: Introduces important concepts associated with workforce productivity. Students learn about the psychological needs necessary to lead a workforce remotely, useful tools to better engage and motivate employees, how to manage autonomous working environments, and useful tools to maintain and/or increase professional productivity.

 The Professional Training Certificate in eLeadership is also available in a variety of smaller courses, trainings, or alternate credentials.

Professional Training Certificates

Professional Training Certificates are certificates noting you have completed training in a particular competency. Our Professional Training Certificates involve three (3) classes offered in our Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Organizational Leadership and Learning. Each professional training certificate includes two short courses and a class focused on applied learning.

Professional Training certificates can also be developed to suit an organization鈥檚 particular need. Have a particular training need? Just reach out to us and we can design a credentialed training program for your employees!

Once you have completed a Professional Training Certificate, you will receive a certificate from the Organizational Leadership and Learning degree program and a digital credential offered by Acclaim. Professional Training Certificates can be fully transferred into the Organizational Leadership and Learning degree program through credit for prior learning. This option can help save you thousands on a bachelor's degree and help you to grow professionally through on-the-job applied learning.
