Departmental Honors in Exercise Science

Undergraduate students working toward a degree in exercise science have the opportunity to receive honors recognition through their major. Honors students will engage in an enriched scholarship and research experience designed to complement the degree major. Students who meet the admissions requirements are encouraged to apply.

Students that are part of the Exercise Science departmental honors program do not have to be enrolled in the Cohen Honors College. Students who are not exercise science majors but are involved in the Cohen Honors College, please contact the Human Performance Studies (HPS) department for permission to enroll in an exercise science honors course, as appropriate.

Departmental Honors Program Admission

Admission requirements include:

Status as an Exercise Science major;
Must have a minimum 3.500 cumulative GPA in all HPS coursework (taken or in progress);
A one-page, double spaced letter describing reasons for applying to the honors track, program goals, and potential benefits to participating in the program; and
Agreement by an HPS faculty member to mentor the final project.

If you've already taken a course from the listed Exercise Science courses without honors credit, contact your advisor to discuss an honors contract to earn honors credit.
