Lisa Walterscheid 

Lisa will be attending Touro University California (TUC) starting August 4th, 2014. TUC is located on Mare Island in Vallejo, California which is in the northern extension of the San Francisco Bay area. She has been accepted to the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and Master of Public Health Joint Program.

My Profession

With the knowledge that the wellness of an individual is directly linked to the health of their community, she plans on working in primary care in a clinic in an underserved area. She is confident that she is well prepared for the Joint MSPAS/MPH Program due to the time spent working on her Bachelor of Science in Health Science through the Public Health Science department at 红领巾瓜报.

My Profession

"As a Public Health Emergency Preparedness Planner, I work with both emergency preparedness and epidemiology. The preparedness part of the position includes revising emergency response plans and responding to Public Health emergencies in Sedgwick county."

She manages a school-illness surveillance website for school nurses in Sedgwick County. On the website they can report illnesses, then the health department uses that data to look at trends in certain illnesses. She also works on special projects in epidemiology including a current survey looking at access to dental care in school age children.

"As a student, I was a graduate teaching assistant and assisted with Well REP, a well-rounded exercise program for seniors conducted at several senior centers around Wichita. Through this experience I developed an interest and soon after a passion for senior centers and what they have to offer older adults."

My Shocker Experience

Madison is a recent graduate from the Aging Studies program receiving her MA in Aging Studies in May 2014. She pursued the Administrative track completing her Administrator in Training practicum at Family Health and Rehabilitation, a skilled nursing facility, in Spring 2014.
