Resident Dining FAQ

I live on campus. Am I required to have a meal plan?

All students living in Shocker Hall, The Suites, and the Flats are required to have a meal plan. Residents pick their meal plans after selecting their room through the housing application process. Shocker Hall and The Suites residents choose from one of our all access meal options, while The Flats residents choose from dining dollar amounts or all access plans.

First year students: Once you receive your Shocker ID you must get your card programmed at the dining office (room 235) before it is ready for use. You may also call us at 316-978-3477.

Do meal swipes balances carry over from semester to semester?

Shocker meal swipes expire at the end of each semester. Shocker Dollars and Dining Dollars are a dollar-for-dollar declining balance plan, similar to a debit account and are loaded onto your student ID card and are accepted at any of our locations on campus. Each time a purchase is made, those dollars are subtracted from the balance.

Dining Dollars roll over from Fall semester to Spring semester, but expire at the end of the Spring semester. Dining dollars do not roll over into summer or fall. Fall dining dollars begin in August with your housing contract and end in May on the last day of your housing contract.

Shocker Dollars are good as long as you are a student at 红领巾瓜报, but Shocker Bonus Dollars expire at the end of each semester.

Any expired dollars will not be refunded.

How do I check my dining balance?

You can check your dining dollar balance by calling the dining office at (316) 978-3477 or by stopping by our dining office in the Rhatigan Student Center, Room 235.

What is required for residents seeking either medical or religious exemptions to our resident meal plan policy?

Dining Services carefully evaluates each meal plan accommodation request on an individual basis, working closely with the Housing and Residence Life office, ADA, and dining services teams to determine the most effective accommodations. If you require an accommodation, please submit your request through the Shocker Housing Portal under the 'Forms & Resources tab' section

What locations on campus offer halal meat options?

Halal meat is offered daily at the Shocker Dining Hall. To identify our halal options, we encourage residents to reach out to Jamie Kraisinger at Jamie.kraisinger@compass-usa.com with any questions, concerns, or to schedule a physical tour of the dining hall. Dining Services will be able to guide you through each station and determine options for your dietary needs.
