Outreach Requests for Presentations, First Aid support for events, etc.
Any of these presentations can be modified to meet time requirements, address specific concerns of a group or to meet a specific educational outcome. Presentations can also be combined to provide a customized approach to the education you are needing.
If there is a topic you are interested in that is not covered on this list, please feel free to contact us. We will be happy to work with you to create a program to fit your needs. Please provide at least one to two weeks prior notice.

Student Health First Aid Support for Events
- First Aid support for events are provided by licensed medical staff (nurses, nurse practitioners, physician associates) who will be available to evaluate and treat injuries or illnesses during your event. Student Health will provide the necessary supplies needed to treat most needs. Follow-up care at Student Health may be encouraged.
- Examples of events requesting First Aid Support are 5k runs or walks, sport tournaments, rowing regattas, large activities with potential for injuries such as ice skating, volleyball, etc.
- This request needs to be provided at least 3-4 weeks in advance.
Information and Self-Care Interactive Presentations
- myShockerhealth Information session: Presentation discusses the services available at Student Health.
- Healthy Behaviors for College Students: Presentation includes discussion on what being healthy means, how health can impact academic performance, healthy behaviors including dietary choices, sleep, exercise, smoking and use of energy drinks. This presentation can be customized to whatever topic you like and should be narrowed down to a focus of 1-2 topics.
- Sexually Transmitted Illnesses: Interactive presentation informs students of sexual health prevention of disease, symptoms to be aware of, testing for illnesses, and treatment.
- HIV and AIDS Awareness: Presentation helps define HIV and AIDS including information on etiology, risk factors, transmission, symptoms, disease progression, testing and prevention.
- Gynecology and Contraception: Inteactive presentation and discussions will bring awareness to multiple contraception devices and methods. Gynecology health will focus on personal hygiene, symptoms to be aware of, treatment of illnesses, common myths debunked, and being aware of your own body.
- LGBTQIA+ healthcare and sexual health: Interactive presentation and discussions on LGBTQIA health and wellbeing can be discussed. Providing information on Student Health's support of this population by providing gender affirming hormones, pre- and post- HIV medication prescriptions and more will also be available.
- Mental Health medication management: Information on how to get started on receiving mental health medication prescriptions for illnesses like depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSC, bipoloar, and more.
- Tobacco Cessation: Information on how to quit smoking and resources and aids.
- I鈥檓 Hurt! Now what do I do? Presentation covers your choice of first aid or basic self-care for common injuries such as sprain/strains, bruises, cuts, scrapes and minor burns. Each common injury area is defined with symptoms, when to see a doctor, how to care for the injury at home.
- I鈥檓 Sick! Now what do I do? Cold/Flu/Covid-19 season preparation
Presentation covers basic self-care for common illness such as sore throat, headaches, fever, cough, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, colds and seasonal allergies. Each illness area has information on home care including what type of over the counter medications would be helpful and when to call the doctor. - Sexual Health "Who鈥檚 in My Bed?": Interactive presentation to help students understand the complications sexual activity may bring to their lives and the consequences of these actions.

- Healthy Eating 101: Tips for making healthy food choices
- Nutrition Basics for Wellness: Helpful hints for grocery shopping, reading nutrition labels, tips for success on health eating and resources for online information and support
Insurance / Travel
- Health Insurance Simplified: Presentation covers information on health insurance including defining terminology used in health insurance, sources for health care on and off campus, and tips on how insurance works.
- Travel Health: Presentation discusses health related concerns for travelers especially those traveling overseas. Preparing for studying abroad and planning your trip.
