Overview

Michael Eberhardt is a National Crime Gun Intelligence Strategist with 27 years of experience as a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and is currently the Owner of Crime Gun Investigations Consulting, LLC.

Mr. Eberhardt has worked with ATF鈥檚 National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) since 2001 conducting violent gun crime investigations in cities across the country. In 2014, he became the Supervisor of ATF鈥檚 Crime Gun Intelligence Center (CGIC) in Philadelphia, PA. Prior to retiring, Mr. Eberhardt served as the Chief of ATF鈥檚 Firearms Operations Division in ATF Headquarters where he led the design and implementation of national level strategy and policy relating to ATF鈥檚 NIBIN and CGIC programs.

He has served as the Chair of the National Crime Gun Intelligence Governing Board, leading the creation of the NIBIN Minimum Required Operating Standards and Crime Gun Intelligence Best Practices.  

Since retiring from ATF in 2019, he has provided training and technical assistance to local police departments across the country and continues to work with state, local, and federal agencies to develop, improve, and sustain violent gun crime strategies using evidence-based, intelligence-driven processes. He is a faculty lecturer at Wichita State University teaching NIBIN and criminal investigations. He is considered a subject matter expert in NIBIN, Crime Gun Intelligence, and violent gun crime investigations with more than 10,000 hours dedicated to these disciplines.

Mr. Eberhardt has a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master鈥檚 degree in Criminal Justice from 红领巾瓜报.
