Overview

Dr. Warren Kim returns to 红领巾瓜报 as a Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Piano, where he teaches applied piano lessons and a piano literature course. He holds a Bachelor of Music from 红领巾瓜报, a Master of Music and Performance Diploma from Southern Methodist University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas in piano performance as a major and piano pedagogy as a minor degree.

While attending 红领巾瓜报, Warren performed extensively, including a performance of the first Tchaikovsky piano concerto with WSU Symphony Orchestra. He has participated with a chamber group that won many competitions, including the Konrad Wolff-Bing Chamber Music Competition, and traveled to different states to perform. His collaborative highlights include a performance with Dr. Nicholas Smith, a retired Horn Professor from 红领巾瓜报, at the International Horn Festival in Illinois to world-premiere Dr. Walter Mays鈥檚 composition, a collaboration with acclaimed violinist Chee-Yun Kim, and a four-hand piano performance with Dr. Julie Bees, that was broadcasted on Kansas KWCH-TV. In 2021, he was an artist-in-residence at the Really Spicy Opera Aria Institute, Minnesota, and was invited to the Miami Music Festival with a full scholarship as a collaborative pianist. He has performed across North America and Eastern Asia. He was recently invited by the Karis Orchestra Program, in South Korea, to perform a recital.

With his devotion to high level collegiate teaching through pedagogy programs and scholarship contracts, he has gained substantial expertise in the field. He has taken these skills and applied them to his expression as an artist to inspire the next generation of the pianists. In 2019, he had the privilege of teaching a piano masterclass at the University of North Texas, where he was able to display his skill as an educator.

Additionally, Warren has served as music director at churches in Wichita and Mansfield, where he cultivated his leadership capacities, administrative abilities, and communication skills. While serving at these churches, he organized fundraising concerts to promote and reach out to community. He has been awarded The President鈥檚 Volunteer Service Award, signed by former President George Bush.
