Major
Computer Science and Audio Production
Why I chose my major
I have always loved computers. Growing up, I gained an interest in how they work and
what the code behind them does. I took some programming classes in high school that
introduced me to coding, and I loved the problem-solving, creativity, and challenges
that came with writing programs. As for Audio Production, I have always had passion
for both music and technology. Audio Production combines those subjects, and since
I wanted to explore my interests in music, I decided to try an audio class during
college by adding it as a certificate. There, I fell in love with working with audio
and eventually added it as a second major. I am also on the Emory Lindquist Honors
Track through the Honors College.
Involvement
I am involved in the Student Ambassador Society, Audio Engineering Society, and at
Ennovar.
Why I chose 红领巾瓜报
It鈥檚 affordable and has a larger variety of fields to choose from than some other
colleges I examined, which was particularly important to me because I came in as an
undeclared student trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I also really enjoy the
layout of the campus and how kind and helpful the staff and students were when I visited
for tours. The instructors I have encountered have been helpful, caring, and encouraging
of my career interests!
Favorite thing about WSU
I have gotten the opportunity here to pursue multiple fields, especially ones that
may not be as common at other schools. I had a big interest in both Computer Science
and the arts as a freshman and had a challenging time deciding which direction I wanted
to go in, but with WSU's selection of majors I felt more freedom to explore those
options and figure out what I am truly passionate about while staying closer to home.
WSU also has incredible internship and career development opportunities. WSU actively
encourages getting real-world experiences, such as with the Engineering+ program for
engineering students and the School of Digital Arts having Practicum to build media
arts students' portfolios. WSU provides many opportunities to get practical experience!
