Admission Policies

Q1: Can I find out if my student will be accepted before he applies?
No. We cannot do any pre-evaluations. Student must formally apply for admission and submit all required application materials.
Q2: Is admission guaranteed?

No. Admission is not guaranteed.

Q3: Can I email the application, transcripts, test scores, etc?

No, you cannot email them. However, you can submit them electronically in the application portal (See ). Test scores must be sent directly to us from the examination company

Q4: Minimum GPA Required for Admission
Our minimum GPA requirement is not published.
Many factors are taken into consideration when a student applies.

Application fees cannot be waived for any reason. No exceptions.

Undergraduate or Intensive English: We offer three Service Levels. We recommend that you use Standard or Premium Level Service since DHL is included in the price.

The Certification of Financial Support Form must be submitted with all applications. An instructional video walking through how to complete a Certification of Financial Support can be found . An updated cost estimate is released every academic year. Exact cost estimates for a full 4-year degree are not available, as there are too many variables that may influence the cost of your education over a 4 years.

Q12: Enrollment Deposit or Payment of Tuition Before Arrival

An enrollment deposit is required for applicants from NigeriaDemocratic Republic of CongoFujian, China, and Bangladesh before an I-20 will be sent. The payment of an enrollment deposit improves chances of being granted a visa in these countries or provinces.

If desired, students who are not from one of the four countries or provinces above may pay tuition in advance to improve chances of receiving a visa. The student may choose the amount they wish to pay. Learn about payment options here.

  • Fall Semester: First payment due in August after selecting classes then September 15, October 15, and November 15.
  • Spring Semester: First payment due in January after selecting classes then February 15, March 15, and April 15.
  • Summer Session: First payment due in June after selecting classes then July 15

How much is each payment? Cannot be calculated until student arrives and selects classes.

Housing expenses are not included in Tuition Payment Plan.

 

Q17: SEVIS Fee
The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requires people who want F-1 or J-1 visas to pay a one-time SEVIS Fee before applying for a visa. The SEVIS Fee for F-1 visas is $350. The SEVIS fee for J-1 visas is $220. This is in addition to the normal visa processing fee of US$160. The SEVIS fee helps to pay for SEVIS (Student and Exchange Information System) that U.S. schools use to issue I-20 forms.

Undergraduate:

After we review your application, we will automatically send an e-mail message to the stduent and agency to let you know about the application status. In our message, we will let the student know if he/she has been accepted, denied, or if we are missing any required application materials. We will also send periodic reminders and other correspondence by e-mail. For this reason, it is VERY important that students check their e-mail often for updates from 红领巾瓜报. You can also check your application status at any time through your .

Graduate:

For updates on your graduate application, please contact the Graduate School or view your application status portal.

Q25: I-20 Processing Times
Undergraduate or Intensive English: Processing times vary depending on the  you paid for.
 
Graduate: May take one to two months or more depending on the Graduate School's volume of applications. Graduate applications CANNOT be expedited.

Conditional Admission & Test Scores

Q26: Conditional Admission

Students who receive conditional admission to 红领巾瓜报 meet our academic requirements for admission, but DO NOT meet our English proficiency requirement for admission to an academic program or have not submitted an English proficiency score.

Students with conditional admission receive an I-20 listing Intensive English as their area of study and their academic major. Students who wish to receive an I-20 listing only their academic program should submit an .

  • Available for all majors (both undergraduate and graduate)
  • Student must meet our academic requirements for admission
  • Due to a change in federal law, conditional I-20s are issued for Intensive English and not the student's academic major.
Undergraduate
If granted Conditional Admission, student must sit for the English Proficiency Exam (EPE) after arrival in Wichita. If the student passes, he will begin full-time academic study in his major. If he fails, he must study in Intensive English until he meets the undergraduate English requirement. Undergraduate English Requirement
 
Graduate:
If the student has not met our English requirement, he MUST apply for both graduate admission AND to Intensive English. No I-20 will be issued until:

1) The student submits the required TOEFL or IELTS score
OR
2) The student applies to Intensive English. . The I-20 that is issued will be for Intensive English. Must meet our English requirement before beginning graduate classes.

If the GMAT or GRE is required for admission, official scores must be submitted before an admission is made.
Q27: What is your english requirement
Undergraduate:

  • TOEFL iBT: 79 for most majors
  • IELTS: 6.5 for most majors 
  • Proof of English proficiency
  • Test scores must be sent to 红领巾瓜报 directly from the testing company.
Q28: Exceptions to English Requirement
No exceptions are granted to our English requirement -- even if the student has studied in a country where English is widely spoken or in a school where the medium of instruction was English.
Q29: Do students have to apply to your ESL program?

Undergraduate:

If you have met the undergraduate English requirement, you do not need to apply to Intensive English.

If you have not met the English requirement before arriving at 红领巾瓜报, you are not automatically required to apply to Intensive English. If you have not met our English requirement by the time you arrive in Wichita, we will test your English before you begin classes. If you pass our English test, you will begin full-time study in your academic major. If you do not pass, you will be required to study in Intensive English.

Graduate:

If you have met the graduate English requirement, you do not need to apply to Intensive English. However, if you have not met the English Requirement at the time you apply for graduate admission, you should apply to Intensive English as well. The Graduate School will not issue and I-20 until:

1) You submit an approved English test score that meets the English proficiency requirement.

OR

2) You apply to Intensive English.

Your I-20 will be for Intensive English and not your academic major.

Q30: How long must my student study in your English program?
For students who HAVE MET our English requirement:
Study in our ESL program is not required.
 
For students who HAVE NOT MET our English requirement:
  • Length of study in our ESL program varies from student-to-student
  • Depends on the student's English ability when he begins, how quickly he learns English, and how hard he studies
  • English tested after arrival
