The University of Chester is located in Chester, England鈥攊n the northwestern part of the country near the England-Wales border. Chester has the most complete ancient city walls, the oldest racecourse, and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain. It also has a 1000 year old Cathedral with Europe's finest example of medieval carvings. The 700 year old Rows Galleries provides lots of shopping. Chester has an oceanic climate which generally features cool summers and mild winters, with a lot of rainfall. If you want to travel outside of Chester, you can quickly hop a train to large cities in England such as London, Liverpool or Manchester, or go even further and take a flight to Ireland.

Academics

This university requires a higher GPA (3.25) for acceptance than most of our exchange partners. Due to high demand of students wanting to study in the UK, this is a very competitive exchange partner university for WSU students.

Overview

The University of Chester has approximately 11,000 students. The University offers many areas of study and is particularly geared more towards LAS majors in areas such as literature and psychology. Courses are primarily available for the full academic year or fall semester and much more limited during the spring semester. Students must pay for at least 12 U.S. credit hours at WSU, regardless as to the number of courses they choose to take, while on the exchange. All students are advised by Chester to take ML5108 - Intercultural Experiential Learning. See  for more info on this course.  Along with this course/module, students will take an additional four/five courses/modules in subjects of their choice.
