Admission to the program

For admission into the Master of Music program, you must:

Be admitted to the WSU Graduate School
Have a Bachelor of Music degree in your area of specialization
Submit a portfolio with pieces demonstrating a variety of contemporary techniques, form and instrumentation.

Curriculum

To complete the Master of Music degree, you鈥檒l take a minimum of 32 credit hours, with 60 percent of your work in courses numbered 700 or above, and complete a thesis or recital depending on your concentration.

Every MM concentration requires 12 credit hours of core courses鈥攊n addition to hours in your specialization area.

In addition, composition students must complete a terminal project of either a composition of major proportions or a body of works in various media.

Music composition graduates pursue a variety of employment opportunities, including: composition for orchestration or arranging, freelance composition, music copying or computer graphics in music, music publishing and editing, commercial music or music composition for children.
