Curriculum

A film studies certificate requires 12 credit hours in film-oriented courses from any department, discipline or college. Departments offering film studies courses range from anthropology and theatre to philosophy and women鈥檚 studies.

How to enroll

To add this certificate to your plan of study: 

  • Log into the myWSU portal, find the Student Tools box (center of the page) and click "Change my Major/Minor."
  • Click continue (this will show your current major and minor).
  • Click continue, then click on "Add a certificate" and choose your certificate program. Click continue and submit request.

Media arts degree creates unmatched opportunities for students

Students enrolled in the Film Studies Certificate program may be interested in Wichita State's Bachelor of Applied Arts in Media Arts degree. 

The degree allows students to specialize in one of WSU's technical and creative tracks 鈥 animation, audio production, game design or filmmaking.

These skills will result in graduates who are more qualified for a variety of media arts jobs, such as sound engineering technician, video game designer, studio camera operator, cinematographer, CGI animator, videographer, film director, film lighting engineer, web designer, sound engineer, video or film editor, and film lab technician.
