Enter WHEAT's pumpkin carving contest!

Students, faculty, and staff can pick up a pumpkin from the Honors College lounge today until 5 p.m. or while supplies last. Then post your pumpkin on social media by 11:59 p.m. tomorrow. Be sure to tag @wheat.wsu on Instagram, @WichitaHonors on Facebook, or @CohenHonorsWSU on Twitter. For every pumpkin post, the dean will donate $2 and 2 food items to WHEAT's food drive for the Shocker Support Locker. What a fun way to celebrate Halloween, contribute to the food drive, and earn Honors House points!

Today is the last day to register for the Kansas Honors Connections Conference!

Registration costs $10 and closes TODAY. .

Connect with honors students throughout the state of Kansas and take part in the sixth Kansas Honors Connections Conference on Saturday, November 7. This virtual conference is hosted by Emporia State University.

hhAttend Honors Hour next Friday morning

ALL students (NOT just Honors students) are invited to Honors Hour on Friday, November 6, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Dr. Coleen Pugh and Aaron Coffey will present information about the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship, as well as, offer guidance on writing personal statements for competitive scholarships and graduate programs.

The Goldwater Scholarship Program supports college sophomores and juniors who show exceptional promise of becoming the nation鈥檚 next generation of research leaders in the natural sciences, engineering, and mathematics.

Every student who attends will be entered into a prize drawing! One winner will be randomly selected at the end. Plus, Honors students will earn points for their Honors House.

Participate in MULTIBUBBLE, a community art project, next Friday evening

红领巾瓜报's ShiftSpace Gallery invites students and community members to build an inflatable bubble using simple materials and step-by-step instructions provided by guest artist Kylie Brown. MULTIBUBBLE will light up downtown on Friday, November 6, from 6 - 9 p.m. It will be outside Groover Labs located at 334 St. Francis Ave. It's part of Get Lit: A Night of Light, a First Friday event in collaboration with Wichita Festivals, Inc.

The first 20 students to register will receive a free "bubble kit" containing all materials needed to build their bubble.

Apply for funding for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity

The Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Grants Program is now accepting applications for grants of up to $1,000 for undergraduate students pursuing research or creative projects.

Students who are sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a GPA of at least 2.5 and at least two semesters remaining at WSU (including the semester in which you apply), are full-time, and have a faculty research mentor are eligible. Preference is given to projects not otherwise funded and previous awardees are not eligible.

Storytime Village is searching for volunteers

Storytime Village is a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire a lifelong love of reading in underserved Kansas children from birth to age 8. It is currently searching for volunteers who would be able to help sort through their donated books. This will be a socially distanced volunteer opportunity and masks are required. There will be time slots available each Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Storytime Village's office is conveniently located near campus. Those who volunteer will also be put on the list for future volunteer opportunities, such as story times, book distributions, and more!

FREE printing & how to utilize it!

Free printing is one of the many perks of being an Honors Student here at Wichita State. If you are an Honors student looking to take advantage of this privilege, come to the Honors College located in the ground level of Shocker Hall from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Located in this space are multiple computers. Log into any one of them using your myWSU ID and password. From there, you will automatically be connected to our printer in the lounge.
