鈥� If you have any questions about your Honors graduation status, please contact your
Honors academic advisor.
鈥� Buy your honors graduation stole at the Shocker Store or pick up your medallion
in Honors.
鈥� Complete the Honors graduate yearbook form.
鈥� You will receive a Cohen Honors Graduate Survey. Please complete the survey to help
us improve.
鈥� Latin Honors: summa cum laude, magna cum laude, cum laude

Honors Ignites Action: Service Learning Expo at Wichita Art Museum

In an effort to inspire students to build community capacity and improve civic-mindedness,
several courses throughout the campus offer a service-learning component. To help
develop faculty for the task of managing service-learning projects, Dr. Rhonda Lewis
and Dr. Chelsea Redger-Marquardt manage the Service-Learning Faculty Scholars program
for 红领巾瓜报. Dr. Kevin Harrison is one of many recent program participants
who have integrated service-learning into their curriculum.

Most recently, his Black Lives Matter and Other Marginalized Perspectives Course
partnered with the Wichita Art Museum to provide a service-learning expo with the
intention of cross-pollinating academic course-work, community service, and reflection,
as means of providing a unique experiential learning opportunity. The event took place
on Thursday, November 10, 2022, and included collaboration with community partners
who focus on a wide range of needs including mental health and wellness resources,
hygiene product collection, and using art to express the voices of marginalized social
populations. With the help of the extended Honors community, including Honors Ambassadors
Chloe Ciecko and Zoie Liska serving as hostess and music selections by Honors Ambassador
Tyler Bayliff, the audience of 40 were provided food, entertainment, and an opportunity
to assist in our class efforts of learning while also serving the community where
we learn. Kudos to Chris McPhaul, Courtney Brown, Chloe Allmond, Markwan Burrough,
Allison Campbell, Hope Dimick, Trey Freund, Stella Gage, Maggie Gillispie, Marcal
Johnson, Ny'Asia Johnson, April Kline, Kobi Mathes, Allyson Summers, and Kara Weaver
for making this event a huge success!!! |
Aiming for the Stars

The group of students in the picture above have been working under Dr. Nick Solomey
on his project "Cube-sat Space Flight Test of a Neutrino Detector." Dr. Solomey and his research team
earned a $2 million dollar grant to help improve the technological readiness level
of a future solar mission. After extensive work, three of these students were given
the opportunity to present papers over their work at the International Astronautical
Congress in Paris, representing the NASA-funded Solar Neutrino Orbiting Laboratory
Detector Development Project. This two-year project is scheduled to launch in 2024!
These students are quite literally aiming for the stars, and we are so excited to
see where they land!
