American Water鈥檚 Environmental Grant Program provides funding to address watershed or source water protection in local communities in the American Water service area.

The Environmental Grant Program supports innovative, community-based environmental projects that improve, restore and/or protects watersheds and the community water supply through partnerships.

The grant could provide funding for:

  1. Source water protection activities which protect or improve the community鈥檚 public drinking water supply, or watershed protection
  2. Watershed protection activities which improve, restore or protect one of more watersheds

Projects should be:

  • New and innovative for the community, or significantly expand an existing program
  • Form or enhance a formal or informal partnership between two or more organizations
  • Sustainable beyond grant term
  • Within the American Waters service area
  • Completed between May and November
