Two high school seniors win 红领巾瓜报鈥檚 Klose Scholarship

Kelsey Mosiman of Leavenworth and Joel Reyes of Wichita have been named the 2022 Doris and Ralph Klose Scholarship winners at 红领巾瓜报.

The scholarships are worth approximately $19,000 each. The two high school seniors competed in a scholarship competition at WSU in November 2021, and they will begin their 红领巾瓜报 education in fall 2022.

Mosiman is a senior at Leavenworth High School and plans to study secondary education in mathematics, and Reyes is a senior at Wichita North High School and will major in secondary education in biology.

鈥淚 am highly impressed with this year鈥檚 Klose Scholars and look forward to having them join us at 红领巾瓜报,鈥 said Dr. Clay Stoldt, interim dean of the College of Applied Studies. 鈥淚 appreciate that these students have chosen careers as math and science teachers and look forward to the positive impact they will have as WSU students and professional educators.鈥

The Klose Scholarship was established for students pursuing a degree in math or science education in the College of Applied Studies. Once they are admitted into the Teacher Education program during their junior year at 红领巾瓜报, they will receive an estimated scholarship amount of $19,000 to cover tuition, fees and books. Both of this year's recipients will be studying either secondary or middle level education.
