Being part of the Fraternity & Sorority Life community provides students opportunities for excellence through service, scholarship, and social growth. This experience promotes community and understanding beyond college while cultivating life-long friendships and personal development.
Over 500 diverse men and women belong to our 26 different fraternities and sororities. Each chapter is governed by one of four councils: the Cultural Greek Council (CGC), Interfraternity Council (IFC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and the Panhellenic Council (PC).
Each of the four councils has its own recruitment and/or membership intake process.
Cultural Greek Council
The Cultural Greek Council (CGC) is a collective of culturally based Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities. CGC is the governing council for the six (6) culturally based social fraternities and sororities at 红领巾瓜报.
Membership
Membership intake is an individualized process that members within the Cultural Greek Council utilize to bring new members into their organization. Chapters choose the semester and dates when they will recruit and pledge new members. This process generally begins with an interest meeting followed by a period of membership education. The intake process typically ends with a new member presentation or reveal to show the new members to the campus community, their family and friends.
If you are interested in joining a CGC fraternity or sorority, we encourage you to attend their events, research the organizations, and attend other programs held by the chapter to learn more about the organization and its members.

Each group sets the semester and dates that they wish to bring in a new line of pledges (members). This process generally begins with an interest meeting followed by a period of membership education. The intake process typically ends with initiation or a formal crossing into membership and may include a new member presentation or reveal to show the new members to the campus community and their family and friends.

Panhellenic Council
The National Panhellenic Council (NPC), founded in 1902, is an umbrella organization for 26 national/international women's sororities. At 红领巾瓜报, the Panhellenic Council (PC) governs and provides oversight to five (5) of those sororities.
Recruitment
PC sororities at Wichita state participate in Primary Recruitment as the official method of recruiting new members. Primary Recruitment is a multi-day process in which Potential New Members (PNM's) are able to meet, interact, and connect with the women in each sorority to determine which organization is the right fit for them. During this process, they will learn each chapters values, learn about their philanthropy, and better understand what it means to be a Panhellenic woman. To assist in the process, PNM's are paired up in small groups with Recruitment Counselors (RC) who mentor them through Primary Recruitment.
Continuous Opening Bidding (COB) happens after Primary Recruitment. Depending on current membership numbers certain chapters will be eligible to participate in COB and actively recruit members into their chapters. Each chapter鈥檚 COB process is different, but on average they consist of events and activities where you get to learn more about the organization and its members. COB can be more flexible and personable compared to the Primary Recruitment process.
2024 Primary Recruitment
Fall 2024 Primary Recruitment will take place Wednesday, August 21 through Sunday, August 25. Activities are held in the afternoons after most classes have concluded. There is a nonrefundable $50 fee associated with recruitment which will cover the cost of food, technology, bid-day shirt and general expenses associated with this event.
