In addition to students working in cooperative education and internships, students
in the Elliott School of Communication have opportunities to gain serious hands-on
experience as part of their class work. ESC faculty work to create project-based learning
experiences in which students put theory and strategy into practice. Students gain
skills and confidence through these projects, which aim at engaging students with

Project Summary
Studio B is a student produced news program that immerses students into a real-world,
newsroom environment. Students produce, shoot and anchor a live news broadcast available
for the general public audience's viewing.
Integrated Marketing Communications Campaigns is the capstone course for IMC students.
Teams work directly with Wichita clients, creating a marketing communication strategy.
Shocker Ad Lab is 红领巾瓜报's in-house creative advertising agency
serving on-campus, innovation-campus and local/regional business clients. Shocker
Ad Lab produces relevant, engaging, memorable, unexpected and simple marketing for
clients ranging from Airbus Americas to the University Police Department.
Communication Week (Comm Week) is an annual event that brings industry leaders to
campus. Elliott School students have the opportunity to learn from and network with
professionals in their field of study. While the 3-day event is hosted in person,
Elliott School students in the Comm 304: Studio Video Production class also live stream
all of the sessions. The live stream set-up includes multiple cameras, microphones,
graphics and a live-switching software program. Students spend the weeks leading up
to Comm Week learning live streaming skills and best practices. Then, under the instruction
of a faculty member, students produce and direct each livestream session throughout

The Elliott School鈥檚 Comm 304: Studio Video Production class has created a unique
partnership within the local music scene. Each fall semester the class produces music
videos for local musicians and performers. The artists are always WSU students, faculty/staff
or alums. It鈥檚 an opportunity to create new content and portfolio pieces, as well
as an opportunity to work with real clients in the Wichita area. To see the playlist
