WSU Quality Initiative

HLC's new Open Pathway accreditation process requires WSU to undertake a major Quality Initiative designed to suit its present concerns or aspirations. Usually, a Quality Initiative is designed to begin and be completed during a designated time frame, a continuation of an initiative already in progress, or an initiative to achieve a key milestone in the work of a longer initiative. The Quality Initiative is intended to allow institutions to take risks, aim high, and learn from only partial success or even failure.

The Student Success and Persistence Initiative has been selected as 红领巾瓜报's Quality Initiative. This is a university-wide initiative focused on SEM goal three, 鈥渋ncrease persistence rates of degree-seeking student populations鈥 with efforts centered around the four recommendations from the National Institute for Student Success in the report commissioned by the Kansas Board of Regents. The goal is to increase retention and graduation rates for students and to narrow the equity gap between the university鈥檚 underserved and non-underserved student populations. Data is collected by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning & Analysis on an ongoing basis throughout the academic year and reported in a dashboard format. Reports are issued annually that document changes and improvements.

WSU received approval for its Quality Initiative from HLC on June 26, 2023.
