CourtesyThe 2024 CyberCorp Scholars at 红领巾瓜报 have been announced. The scholarship aims to increase the workforce of cybersecurity professionals in government.
The scholars receive scholarships that cover tuition, a bi-monthly stipend and professional development expenses. This year鈥檚 scholars:
- Daniel Halbleib, Bishop Carroll Catholic High School, Bachelor of Science in cybersecurity
- Alexander Pickett, Mill Valley High School, Bachelor of Science in cybersecurity
- Jessica Methman, Southeast High School, Bachelor of Science in cybersecurity
- Hyacinthe Howell, Southeast High School, Master of Science in computer science
In exchange for this scholarship, recipients will work for government agencies in a cybersecurity role following graduation, including at agencies such as the National Security Agency, CIA, FBI or Department of Defense.
鈥淭he College of Engineering is committed to providing our students with the opportunities they need to succeed,鈥� said Anthony Muscat, dean, College of Engineering. 鈥淥ur latest cohort of CyberCorp Scholars are just one example of our college鈥檚 efforts to train our students to be successful in their careers. Daniel, Hyacinthe, Jessica and Alexander have shown tremendous initiative in their academic careers, and I can鈥檛 wait to see how they tackle this new challenge before them.鈥�
The scholarship is available thanks to funding from the National Science Foundation. Undergraduates鈥� yearly stipend is $27,000 while graduate students receive $37,000 a year in addition to the tuition coverage.
